Van Damme State Park in Mendocino County sits a few miles south of Mendocino. Over 1,800 acres hold old-growth redwoods, a mixed sand and pebble beach, and a pygmy forest of waist-high centuries-old trees. Little River runs from fern-filled canyons to the Pacific at Little River Beach, where kayakers launch to sea caves and divers explore a kelp forest.
